eTech manages digital signs in several UA buildings:
- Clark Hall
- BB Comer Hall
- ten Hoor Hall
- Morgan Hall
- Gordon Palmer Hall
- Moody Music Building
- Bryant-Jordan Hall (opera building on Bryce campus)
In addition to selecting and scheduling individual slides to run on these signs, we also build slides for A&S departments and programs and the Dean’s Office. These slides are usually intended to run in A&S buildings, but they may be distributed across campus if desired.
Digital Signage Requests
Requesting eTech’s Slide Design Services
If you are a faculty or staff member of the College of Arts and Sciences and would like eTech to build a sign for an upcoming event, deadline, or course offering, complete our digital slide request form, and we will be in touch if we have any problems.
If you have photos you want us to use on the slide, great! We can use .jpg, .psd, .png, .gif, or .tiff files, ideally no larger than 10Mb. You can attach these to the digital slide request form.
Building Your Own Slides
If you want to build a slide yourself, you have two options:
- design it from scratch
- use one of our slide templates
IMPORTANT: If you build your own slide, you must follow these specifications. If you don’t, either you or we will have to redesign the slide.
Designing Slides from Scratch
If you build a slide from scratch, you must ensure that the finished product meets these specifications:
- landscape 16 x 9 aspect ratio (width x height); signs submitted in portrait layout WILL NOT be posted
- proper size, or large enough to be converted to the proper size; think 1920 x 1080p, or 2048 x 1152 (Note: If you want your slide to run on signs in non-A&S buildings, you must submit 16×9 and 4×3 versions; both must be .png files)
- 72 px/inch resolution
- .png format preferred; can also take a .jpg/.jpeg
- no larger than 5Mb
Using eTech’s Templates
If you like the idea of plugging your text and photo/s into a template, email email@example.com to request access to the UA Box folder where eTech provides Photoshop templates for digital signs. Several designs and color schemes are available for download. After entering your photo/s and information, do a “Save As” to save the file, then submit the finished slide to us via our digital slide request form.
Posting Completed Slides
If you have a completed slide you would like to play on screens in any of the buildings listed on this page, the digital slide request form covers that, too. Please bear in mind that completion of this form constitutes a request, not an order. We will consider running only those slides that are appropriate for our buildings. If you are not affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences, please make your request with the Center for Instructional Technology.
To report a technical problem with a digital sign (i.e., the screen is blank or flickering) in your building, contact the CIT Audio Visual Solutions helpline at (205) 348-3453.
