Bama Email Accounts

Every university employee, whether full-time or part-time, has a myBama account that includes a Bama email account (also called WebMail or BamaMail). For instructions on how to obtain a Bama email account, please visit the HelpDesk. This email account can be accessed using the myBama web site or by visiting the BamaMail site directly.

Preventing Spam

Some University of Alabama email accounts receive a large number of “spam” messages. Be aware that this is a university-wide problem and not limited to the College Arts and Sciences. The HelpDesk uses SpamAssassin as a weapon against spam for Bama email. Mail delivered to Bama accounts can be automatically scanned through SpamAssassin, even if the message is forwarded to another email address. Click here to set up your Bama account to forward to another email client. Instructions for configuring several common email programs can be found here. If you forward to your Bama email account from another email address, you still may be able to take advantage of the SpamAssassin filter.
