Cybersecurity should be taken very seriously. As the stories from DCH have shown us, technology breaches can result in disastrous consequences. Even on an individual level, breaches can result in time-consuming efforts for the affected parties to put their lives back in order. Therefore, it is always wise to remain vigilant when receiving emails and other communications or downloading files and other materials from unknown sources. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has a dedicated department for keeping our university safe, but even the most secure institutions can be hacked if an employee unwittingly gives information to the wrong people.
