What is the best way to save my files at work? Can I save them on my computer?

We do not recommend storing your files only on your computer’s hard drive for two reasons.

First, storing large amounts of data directly to your computer can eat up storage space and slow down performance of your computer. This is important as newer computers come with solid-state hard drives, which are significantly smaller than the older hard drives.

Second, if something happened to your computer (hard drive failure, theft, etc.), you could lose access to your files.

Therefore, we recommend backing up important files to a secondary location, such as one of the UA-provided storage methods (network drives or UA Box) and/or an external hard drive or flash drive.
