Should I let my computer or web browser save my passwords?

In general, it is not a good idea to let your computer do this. If someone were to get into your computer or device, they would be granted instant access to your protected sites as well. You also do not want to use the same password for all things, since someone who was able to steal your Facebook password might then be able to access your retirement account or bank statements. While both of these practices may be done out of convenience, they create a big security risk for you.

For those who would like assistance in remembering multiple passwords, we recommend you create a password-protected file in Word or Excel and store it in UA Box. (Type “protect” in the help box of your program for step-by-step directions on how to do this.) Another option is to use a password management tool, such as LastPass or Keypass.
