Why are my students not getting my emails?

Some students might not be seeing emails because they didn’t notice the shift from Google to Microsoft O365. To ensure that all of our students are receiving messages, please remind your students during the first week of class that they should be using Office 365 to access their email.

Students can access email through any of the following portals:

  1. https://mybama.ua.edu (click the Crimson Email link)
  2. http://mail.crimson.ua.edu
  3. Outlook desktop app
  4.  Outlook mobile app

The OIT website has best practices and step-by-step video guides for accessing email at oit.ua.edu/crimson. If students experience issues accessing their Crimson email accounts, they may need to reset their myBama passwords at mybama.ua.edu, then log in again.

What about Crimson Google Drive?

To reduce redundancy with email and cloud storage, UA will discontinue access to Google Drive for all Crimson accounts in May 2022. This deadline will coincide with Google’s new limited storage plans, which will go into effect next year. Students and faculty who have been using Google Drive for shared projects should start moving any files they want to keep to Microsoft OneDrive. Alumni who want to keep files from their old Crimson accounts should move them to their personal cloud or physical storage space.

For more details, see Access to Crimson Google Drive Will End May 2022.
